SAMI YUSUF LIFE STORY
Biography
Sami Yusuf is a British composer, singer and accomplished musician. He was born in July 1980 into a musical family of Azeri origin in Tehran, Iran, learning to play several instruments at a very young age and demonstrating a keen interest in singing and composing. He studied music at several institutions and with renowned composers and musicians, including composers from the Royal Academy of Music in London, one of the world most prestigious music institutions. In addition to his education in Western harmonics and composition, Sami has a solid understanding of the Middle Eastern modes (or Maqams), and is thoroughly acquainted and familiar with both Eastern and Western musical traditions.
Since 2003, Sami’s debut album 'al-Mu'allim' and his second album 'My Ummah' have sold over five million copies worldwide (with a third album nearing completion). His YouTube videos have been played over 10 million times and his websites have been accessed by his many millions of ardent supporters. His concerts have attracted huge audiences across the Middle East, Europe and the United States, including a staggering 250,000 attendance in Istanbul. Sami has been featured by Time Magazine and has appeared on the covers of dozens of other mainstream publications around the world.
Sami is devoutly spiritual and often uses his art and music as a means of promoting the messages of love, mercy, peace and tolerance, whilst encouraging the youth to be proud of their identity.
His Career
Sami has been featured by Time Magazine as "Islam's biggest rock star"and has appeared on the covers of dozens of other mainstream publications around the world. Sami is devoutly spiritual and often uses his art and music as a means of promoting the messages of love, mercy, peace and tolerance, whilst encouraging the youth to be proud of their identity. Sami Yusuf’s songs have revolutionalized the nasheed industry and have given birth to a new genre of modern Islamic music.His latest song You Came To Me has been released as an immense hit all over the world. It has had more than 1,000,000 views on Youtube.
2003-2009: First albums with awakening
Sami's first album Al-Mu'allim was self-produced and released in July 2003 and attained huge success. His second album, My Ummah, which was released in 2005, comes in two versions, a musical version and one with just percussion. He creates many of his songs in different languages mainly in English, Arabic, Persian, Turkish and Urdu. He has held concerts all around the world, and is albums were mainly popular among young Muslims, in particular Turkey, where his concert gathered up to 250,000 people, at Istanbul in 2007.
Disputed third album and departure from awakening
A third album, Without You, was planned for release during mid-2008 but was delayed due to a contractual dispute.An album by that name was then launched by Awakening Records in January 2009. Sami Yusuf subsequently stated on his official website that this album was released without his knowledge or consent, and is a compilation of demos and sketches with a quality inferior to his normally high standards. He has called for fans to boycott it. However as of April 2009 Awakening Records continues to feature the album prominently on the Sami Yusuf part of its website, saying that the album is "a complete and high quality album" consisting of "11 professionally recorded tracks".Awakening says it has already made "substantial" payments to Yusuf for his third album, which has been advertised on its website since May 2008. Yusuf had previously released two albums with Awakening, and signed for a total of five.Asked whether Awakening had paid him in full in July 2009, Yusuf indicated they had not.
2009 - present: ETM International
Following the dispute with awakening Sami moved to the ETM International record company.
I just want to thank our Team (particularly the Admins and Mods and of course the backend team too) for doing a fantastic job and for all the support.
We have embarked on a New Chapter. I see this New Chapter as more of an evolution than any specific 'ad hoc' transition. As amazing as our journey has been throughout these 7 years, I can't help but feel the real work hasn't even started yet. Thank You all for the immense support throughout the years and lets all work hard to make our "New Chapter" a historic realisation.

I want to tell you the story of my way to Islam,.....
I have always been searching, since I was a small girl..... but I didn't know what for!.... I have always believed in God, although I grew up in an incredulous parental home. my parents were Christians - if only by name, and to belong.
At the age of 10 I panicked and questioned fear over death... the thoughts of ending, zero beloningness was a torment and driving me crazy - where and what happens to life after death??? was my persistance to search further
I found consolation and relief in the religious lessons, and thus originated my deep faith in God,....
My first thought about Islam wasn't good,..but also not bad,....because I didn't know a lot about this...I only knew that Islam accept Jesus...I paid no attention to media, the negative headlines and propaganda, as for example the book "Not without my daughter" in such a way I was always a seriously person, who have tried to get the bottom of,...
.
I was a Christian..., however not properly. I could not believe, that Jesus has died for us to take away our sins . I always thought ,that I am responsible for my sins by myself...I made an in-firm training in a strictly Catholic house...
with the result which I, as soon as I was 18 years old , I have stomped out from the church , because I did not manage with this Catholic apprenticeship, with the pope,...so I started to study my religion properly. and discovered a lot of truth., however, the thing with God's son I could never accept.....
Also I started to study other religions., for example, Buddhism. Hinduism, .. in continual search to find peace and thruth within a religious sector
thus I took out the good, true things and cooked up my own patchwork- religion ,...hihiii:))
Then I got to know my husband, he is a Muslim. Alhamdulillah! We talked a lot about Islam and religion, and I ascertained that our opinions were similar
A lot of things wasn't really new for me... I already knew it from the other religions.
But something came to me very strange and has also made some fear.........
I always heard hell and paradise... haram and halal.... so many laws.......,...too many laws....
I am an emotional person. . my heart could not feel it....it didn't touched me,....
Then I have heard you with your beautiful, emotional voice.....and your wonderful music,..from your heart..!))!! MashaAllah!! You have impressed me with your devotion to Islam very much. I could feel your deep love to Allah and to the prophet. (sas)... this has touched me sooooo much, since the first moments till now..!!)))...It has opened the door to my internal way,...my way to Allah !!! Thank you soooo much, my dearest brother!! Alhamdulillah!!.....Jasaku Allahu chairan!!
And there were other brothers and sisters who showed me the spiritual side of Islam. I read literature.... my heart has opened and I could understand everything. also the jurisprudence.....
I discovered the miracles of the holy Quran, the science in it... this perfect entity... it wasnt apparent in any other religion ....
Thus I became a Muslim, first in my heart.. and 4 years ago official, Alhamdulillah:))!!..It was like "coming home"...finally. after a long search...it was such a unbelievable feeling,...coming home to God..to Allah!!! its been a Long time I have wondered around and around and have searched the sense of my life.
.... now I have found: the love to God, the way to Him and the sense of my life: to serve... to him so well as I am able, and to improve my Iman!! Allahu akbar!! Everything in the life has his sense and thus also my long way...
Therefore, I love your song "You came to me" soooo much.mashaAllah:))!! It reminds me of my own way,.......
My mother has accepted this immediately... she has a big heart Alhamdulillah. My father has never said something about it...
Many so-called friends have withdrawn, but I have won many new friends,..real friends
I do not know whether I am a good Muslim, I do the best, iA Practising is very difficult for me ....
My dear brother, please make Du 'a for me,.. which I become strong.....

Peace be with you all, I just got back from a really great event I was almost certainly not going to attend to -- due prior commitments and a hectic schedule. I'm glad I attended and I'd like to thank The Kingdom of Bahrain for bestowing on me the award for 'Best Artist of 2009' and 4Shbab for their support and appreciation. I met some truly lovely people, but the highlight for me (and perhaps the greatest award of all :)) was meeting our esteemed and eminent scholar Sh. Abdullah Bin Bayyah once again. It was a lovely trip and Bahrain get's more and more beautiful each time we visit :) Stay tuned for some major updates coming very soon :) God bless you all. Sami

Let's not forget... In July 1995 the Bosnian Serb army staged a brutal takeover of Srebrenica and its surrounding area, where they proceeded to perpetrate genocide. Bosnian Serb soldiers separated Bosniak families, forcibly expelled 25,000-30,000 people, summarily executed at least 8,372 boys, men, and elderly, and dumped them into mass graves...
